I have a secret.... I love photographing beautifully displayed food. When I'm at an event, and the catering staff has a perfectly manicured food display, I can't help myself - I have to photograph it. What I LOVED about this project with Great Point Kitchen and Events was that I was allowed to style the food as well. And LeNan, owner and head cook, not only has delicious food, but she also has a photographer's dream of styling boards and plates. We taste food with our sense of smell and then our sense of sight before our the food hits our tastebuds. Great Point Kitchen and Events is a catering company that services Central Ohio. She has a fun story behind the name - but I'm not going to spoil it when you can go read about it on her website. ;) I met LeNan at an event last July. Her food was so pretty that I couldn't help but photograph it. After sending her photographs of her food displays, she asked if I would come up to her home and photograph a few new items for her menu. And this is what we did together. (And yes, I got to taste all of it too - BONUS!!). Above is a Mushroom Soup... the perfect necessity for a cold winter's day. And below is a Caprese salad (left), and Green Beans with Mushrooms (right). Mmmm, homemade Mac & Cheese (above); and two varieties of stuffed mushrooms (below). I might have had more than my share of the mushrooms - but I couldn't help it, they were so good!! To see more of her food, or to schedule a consultation, you can also visit her Facebook page! Do you own a restaurant or a catering service, and need updated food photography?

Amy actually booked me a long time ago... well over a year ago for her June 2019 wedding. But instead of just meeting once to chat, and then meeting again to book, and waiting until an engagement session to meet up again; she and I meet up every now and then for coffee dates - just because we clicked as friends. I do tell my clients up front that I am going to keep them as friends afterwards... but it's very rare that THEY claim me as friends before their wedding day!!! By the time we did their engagement session, I knew Amy very well. But I finally got a chance to meet Derick as well. Like most of my grooms-to-be, he told me that he doesn't really like pictures. (And as always, in my head, I think, "challenge accepted"). Now I'm going to take a time out and being a little more honest than I should probably be: not all of our pictures turned out well. But as a good photographer, I won't give you ALL of the photos. I do something called "culling" - which basically means that I remove any photos that don't compliment you in the best way. I want you to LOVE your pictures - so I only give you the photos that I'm proud of. I love that Amy is so playful! We found a giant pile of leaves and Amy started throwing them up in the air. This took several tries... and funny bloopers of the leaves flying into their mouths but I finally got this one. Love their reactions!!! I always ask, "so how did you two meet?" And 7/10 the answer is like Amy & Derick's - "online". So, yes, online dating does work. These two are proof of that. Can't wait to photograph their wedding on June 8, 2019!!
If you are about to get engaged, or engaged and still looking for a photographer, I'm still taking weddings for 2019. To see my wedding portfolio, click here. |
