Emily was gearing up to turn 40, so her husband Jason decided to take matters into his hands and hired Erin McMichael from Fantastic Event Direction (FED) to help him celebrate his wife's "Fantastic" birthday! He didn't want her to feel like she needed to do anything except for enjoy herself.
Take a moment to read the Hawaiian Rules, it's good advice for all:
Guests start arriving and they are ready for a luau!
Yard games include a giant Jenga set. And the kids are dominating!
Kayla and _____ show up to give Hula lessons (and then later be our fire spinners!)
As night begins to fall, it's time to prep for the fire spinning entertainment!
So what happens when you have girls that play with fire combined with an outdoor fireplace sitting next to the ledge of a pool???? (Did you think you'd ever hear such a question? Nope, me neither)
Well, they decide to do Yoga, of course!!
And then Jason and a friend decide that they can do that too... LOL!!
(I was not expecting this so I didn't get the flames in the photo).
What a wonderful birthday celebration!! Every big birthday should have an Erin (pictured below on the far right) directing it!
First of all, how adorable is the name Maeve?!!? Such a cute Irish name!! Second, I love love love when my wedding clients come back to me for their babies!! I have such awesome relationships with my wedding clients that I'm thrilled that I get see them again; and then I get to hold and photograph the most precious new little human in their lives. It's the best gift that my clients give me.
I love my clients! But I'm a fine artist, first and foremost. And if I don't allow myself time to "play", then I can get very frustrated. As a creative, I have a lot of conceptual ideas that need just as much attention as my client work. So here is a study of day and night that I recently did with two former clients.
Thanks to my dear friend, Lisa, for coming out to lend her creative styling and help hold my lights.
This session with Lindsay has a very different mood because I shot it first (by about 3 weeks. And it's shot at sunset, which makes a difference. Lindsay is a former bride (and her husband, Ben, who is off-camera tagged along, so I put him to work ;) lol But he was a great help with my lights).
A girl with a camera, trying to be creative out loud. I keep my clients as friends; believe in endless possibilities. and have decided that 2018 is a year to spread my wings.
